Today, a couple other of my classmates and I did the Oobleck lab during class. By doing the lab, we had to figure out if it was a solid or a liquid and learning what makes a solid different from a liquid. For example, a solid always keeps it's same shape whereas a liquid can change shape.
Is it a solid or a liquid?
Solid:
Conclusion:
I have come to the conclusion that Oobleck is a liquid, even if it acts like a solid sometimes. The substance ends up back into a liquid in the end and keeps a little bit of it's liquid properties when it's a solid.
Is it a solid or a liquid?
Solid:
- It seemed pretty solid when I was poking it with the spoon or when I tried to mix it.
- It was hard when it wasn't moving.
- When I picked up the oobleck, it was dripping off of my spoon like a liquid would.
- It felt like a liquid when it was moving.
Conclusion:
I have come to the conclusion that Oobleck is a liquid, even if it acts like a solid sometimes. The substance ends up back into a liquid in the end and keeps a little bit of it's liquid properties when it's a solid.
